Often at the beginning of a project there is a lot of excavation required: Footings for walls, bases for patios drives etc. Also terracing of steep, hard to use gardens requiring retaining walls or banking or even Gabion baskets. Levelling of uneven areas or from time to time giving flat areas more contours.
